The SpaceWire PCI Mk2 is a 3 SpaceWire port router, which can also act as an interface, that succeeds the successful SpaceWire PCI-2 card. New features include the introduction of a packet generator in the hardware. This allows the card to generate SpaceWire packets at high speeds without using the host PC’s resources. Similarly, a new packet checker has also been added to the hardware design.

The SpaceWire IP Tunnel can be used to connect two remote SpaceWire devices or networks using a TCP/IP network, such as the internet. With an IP Tunnel connected to each SpaceWire sub-system, the two IP Tunnels communicate the SpaceWire information as if the devices were directly connected. This allows users to test the integration of their system at a much earlier stage in development and resolve issues when it is easier, and significantly cheaper, to do so.

STAR-Dundee’s VxWorks driver supports the SpaceWire PCI Mk2, the SpaceWire cPCI Mk2, and the SpaceWire PMC Mk2 on the real-time operating system VxWorks.

The SpaceWire Link Analyser Mk2 combines the functionality of the pervious Link Analyser and SpaceWire Monitor, and in addition to many new hardware and software features it enables users to easily gather and analyse data on a SpaceWire link. The Link Analyser Mk2 connects between two SpaceWire devices and a host PC, via the USB port, running the supplied host software.

An Overview of The SpaceWire Standard

SpaceWire has emerged as one of the main data-handling networks for use onboard spacecraft since the SpaceWire standard was published in January 2003. It is now being used on many ESA, NASA and JAXA spacecraft and by research organisations and space industry across the world. Below is a quick overview, and there's plenty more information around the knowledge base. If you would like to read the full standard, you can download the SpaceWire Standard here.
