Aside from 8 front-facing SpaceWire ports, the SpaceWire Router Mk2 also has two external parallel ports, a USB connection, and a time-code interface. The USB port allows the Router Mk2 to connect a PC to a SpaceWire network, while the parallel ports provide an easy interface to development boards and prototype systems.
STAR-Dundee’s Validation Software and CUBA Software make it easy for a user to send SpaceWire packets from their PC. Both programs are easy to use and offer powerful features to the user. For further flexibility the USB driver is supplied with a technical API and example code. For more information on the included software and drivers, check the Document Details tab below for datasheets.
The SpaceWire Router Mk2 uses similar architecture to the SpW-10X radiation tolerant ASIC available from Atmel, providing an excellent path to flight. A development kit for the SpW-10X is available here. There are multi-coloured LEDs on the SpaceWire connections to help users quickly understand the link’s current status. The unit can also be used as a stand-alone router, and its 5V DC power supply is supplied (including the appropriate power plug).
This unit can also be fitted into a 19” Rack Mounting Kit available here, or with a 6U front panel available here.
