What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Contact forms

A quote feature allows you to submit a selection of products to receive a quote for. There is also a pricing enquiry form that can be used for general sales questions. As a minimum your name, company name and email address will be stored with the quote request.

A form can be used to request technical help with our products. The information that you provide will be used to help us to provide support. As a minimum your name, company name and email address are required.

We provide a form to allow our users to register their products. As a minimum your name, company name and email address are required along with product serial numbers. This information will be used to create an account with access to software and downloads.

A general contact form can be used for any other enquiries. As a minimum your name and email address are required.

A form can be used to register interest in the SpaceFibre User’s Guide. We will send a copy to each user who has registered an interest when the guide is published. As a minimum your name, company name, email address and mailing address are required.

A form can be used to register agreement to the SpaceFibre Multi-Lane Patent Agreement. As a minimum your name, email address, phone number and mailing address are required.

Enquiries

In response an enquiry we may ask you to complete a form in a Word document to help us better understand your requirements. For example, we may ask you to complete an IP Request Form with information about your application to allow us to determine the appropriate license for you.

Cookies

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

A cookie is used to keep track of items in your quote before it is submitted.

When you visit our pages, a cookie is stored by Google Analytics to enable us to track your visit. No personally identifiable information is stored.

Some of our pages embed YouTube videos. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode which means that no cookies will be stored until you interact with the video. When you click on the player YouTube may set functional cookies but will not store any personally identifiable information.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics for our website statistics, but no personally identifiable information is used in this process.

Who we share your data with

Your data is only used by STAR-Dundee employees to provide quotations and support.

How long we retain your data

When you request a quotation or pricing information on our website the data that you enter is used to generate your quotation and is stored in our records electronically for up to 20 years.

When you request support through our website the data that you provide is used to provide this support and is stored in our records electronically for up to 20 years.

Upon registering one of your STAR-Dundee products an account will be created to allow you to access support and downloads. The account will include your name, company name and email address as a minimum. This data will be retained indefinitely or until your account is deleted.

When you register an interest in the SpaceFibre User’s Guide we will store your details until the guide is published and we have sent you a copy.

Any other data that you enter into our contact forms will be stored on our servers for up to 5 years.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
