Galvanic Isolation with the New SpaceWire Isolator Mk2

STAR-Dundee’s SpaceWire Isolator has been used in the testing and integration of many spacecraft, providing galvanic isolation for two SpaceWire links during these critical development stages. The SpaceWire Isolator protects equipment from electrical surges and transient voltage spikes, and eliminates ground loop currents flowing between equipment. These can cause damage to LVDS interfaces and poor equipment performance.

Although the original SpaceWire Isolator continues to be a popular and reliable device, meeting the needs of many applications, STAR-Dundee is delighted to announce the release of a new SpaceWire Isolator Mk2 product, superseding the original SpaceWire Isolator. As with the original SpaceWire Isolator, the SpaceWire Isolator Mk2 provides galvanic isolation for two SpaceWire links, operating transparently in-line with those links, and requiring no additional software drivers or configuration.

The SpaceWire Isolator Mk2 improves upon the original SpaceWire Isolator, though, providing operation at higher SpaceWire link speeds and enhanced FMECA protection. A FMECA report for the SpaceWire Isolator Mk2 is available on request.

At the time of writing, STAR-Dundee has SpaceWire Isolator Mk2 units in stock and quotations can be requested from the new SpaceWire Isolator Mk2 product page.
